Archival Framing

Preserve your artworks for generations. With Archival Framing, the materials in contact with your print are ensured to be acid-free and stable. From the choice of adhesives to mounting methods, we take joy in providing framed prints with archivability and reversibility in mind.

Components

Mat Board

For the window mat, we use Hahnemühle’s Museum Board. Made with 100% Cotton and with a weight of 1280gsm, this gives an eye-catching 2mm thickness offering an immersive depth to your prints, 65% deeper than a typical window. For the back mat, our choice is Berkeley’s 1.2mm thick acid-free matboard. A rigid surface that works as the print’s mounting surface.

UV Glass

We use UV blocking polycarbonate for each frame we make. It is rated to block 99.9% of UV rays—perfect for preventing prints from aging through extended exposure to light.

Adhesives

To hinge the matboards together, we use the industry’s favourite archival tape, Lineco Linen Hinging Tape. It is a very fine pH neutral, non-yellowing, pressure sensitive cloth tape that will stay strong and pliable for decades. It holds the front and back mat together to help keep the print in place.

Mounting Corners

We strive to make each framed print as reversible as possible—this means being able to unmount your art without damaging the prints.

Lineco Photo Corners is a small piece of plastic pocket that holds each corner down, requiring no adhesives to directly stick to the print. Made out of polypropylene, it won’t degrade in the near future making it a perfect choice for archival framing.

Backing

We use 5mm thick Polystyrene foam boards to give your prints better resistance to moisture compared to plywood, typically used in the Philippines. Foam board’s inherent lightness makes your prints easier to transport and handle. We also use Lineco’s archival foil Sealing Tape to prevent moisture and dust from seeping through the gaps behind the frame.

Frames

We offer Archival Framing in 3 colors; Light Pine, Dark Pine, and Aqua. All frames are made of pine wood, giving each frame a unique grain pattern. We seal our frames with a matte lacquer finish.

Frame moulding are made in-house; machine cut, stained, and assembled in our studio.

Sizes

We offer Archival Framing in 7 pre-set sizes, fitting A5 to A1 size prints.

Each frame can have a custom window cut size that will fit your print.

We use Logan’s mat cutting rigs to bevel cut each window. Logan’s mat cutters allow great accuracy with little over or under-cuts which is one of the challenges of cutting mats by hand.
